FractalOne is a Drum & Bass duo from Melbourne, Australia. They are known for their fresh and innovative take on the genre, aiming to create a unique style of Neurofunk inspired Drum & Bass. Some could describe it as high energy bass music with musicality being at the forefront, laced with trippy, almost psytrance-eske elements, cinematic vibes, heavy drums, a highly technical approach to their sound design and a thought provoking message across all their tracks.
They were part of building the Drum & Bass scene in South China, as a part of the Unchained family in Shenzhen, China and a big supporter of their vision and passion to spread Drum & Bass all over China, FractalOne regularly headlined shows all over China over the past few years.

2024 - Nemean - Posession EP - Tunnel Vision - Eatbrain
This track marks a dynamic collaboration with fellow Melbourne drum & bass producer, Nemean. Initiated last year in Nemean's studio, it blends our distinctive styles and sounds, creating a fusion that showcases the best of both worlds. Nemean brought it to completion for it's 2024 release, earning high praise from the founder of the label, who deemed it S-Tier. The neuro drum & bass producer community has also received it enthusiastically.

2022 - Cognitive Dissonance EP - Expedite Records
The Cognitive Dissonance EP is the result of months of psychedelic sound design blended with a Neurofunk style that gels it all together. After playing with psytrance production for the first time in a decade, trying to create the signature sounds found within the genre while making a track in memory of TN.EXE/Astroscope (Tenille), the mission was to implement them into neurofunk/techy drum & bass. This is what gives the release its unique feel and vibe throughout.
The journey was years in the making; it's a culmination of life experience and passion for sound design. The primary inspiration for the release can be traced to years of psytrance and drum & bass festivals and events, and the inspiration was drawn from trying to meld these together.
The release is dedicated to Tenille, James' late soulmate and close friend to Ross, a Drum & Bass DJ who loved both Psytrance and Techy Drum & Bass and was created just a couple of months after she left us in late 2020. After building a life together in Melbourne, Aus and then moving to China and representing Unchained Asia, Tenille and James both played gigs together all over the country and travelled the world attending various festivals. One festival that left a real mark was an event in Germany called Freqs of Nature, this was a 7-day festival held at an abandoned WW2 airfield a couple of hours out of Berlin, featuring Heavy Neurofunk artists and Dark Psytrance artists. The vibe was psychedelic, but ominous at the same time, a tone that is woven throughout this release.

Released in Q2 2022, at it's peak this release made it to the top 10 on Beatport or all Drum and Bass releases.
This release is an experiment of trying to use harsh distortions within the confines of a smoother auditory palate, while these tracks still go hard, these kinds of harmonic distortions are more typical of hardcore and industrial genres.
Stand Up is a high energy drum driven neurofunk banger with plenty of attitude and a message fitting of the name of the label, this one bangs on a huge system and double drops like a party hungry 18 year old, fresh to the rave scene.
Play What is a bit more playful, a progressive tune full of complex distortions and rhythmic switches, especially on the second drop seeing the likes of a 4:4 buildup, jungle style neuro drop, a progression of a part in the first drop and finally a minimal dnb tech style number to tie the journey all together.
Manufacturing Consent was written as part of a series of Neuro Drum and Bass tunes that will come out on a future release that were inspired by meshing psytrance with neurofunk. Manufacturing Consent took a much heavier route so it sounds itself with these 2 other tear out bangers, it's a little more subdued but still dials in that psytrance vibe among the dark heavy metal switches and dark bouncy melodies and a twisted choir to lead things in.

Manufacturing Consent took a much heavier route so it sounds itself with these 2 other tear out bangers, it's a little more subdued but still dials in that psytrance vibe among the dark heavy metal switches and dark bouncy melodies and a twisted choir to lead things in.

2021 - Capitalism/Power - Abducted LTD
Released in Q4 2021, at it's peak this release made it to the top 10 on Beatport or all Drum and Bass releases.
A dark, mechanical vibe brings the “Capitalism” machine to life groaning on through evil atmospherics as beat awakens and the intensity skyrockets through the build. The tension is high as the drop flips into a high energy composition of crazy neurofunk madness with upbeat energy and ‘in your face’ attitude. Rabid beats run through the measures pounding relentlessly. The phrases flip intertwining synthesized melodies that spin and soar amidst the carnage as the bassline beats brutally beneath. The second drop brings an even bigger bang with a deadly delay and massive neck breaking energy with creative variety that just doesn’t quit. “Power” packs a potent punch as sinister synths stalk the build on rough and ridged highs with an eerie essence festering in the distance. Expansion and Data explore the devastating blow to our digital rights in recent times with heavy hitting neuro vibes to carry the aggression.
The release explodes into the bouncy, high-energy vibes of "Expansion" before stepping up the stomp factor on "Data". "Stutter" rolls us on through with some trippy, dystopian flare as we finish up with the solidly progressive track "Another World".

2017 Outbreak EP - The Tech Collective
The first release we created was a story called Outbreak, the name inspired by the title track from which it drew it's etymological roots from the heavy use of the Access Virus, it was used to create just about every element in the track with obvious layering of organic sounds to bring it to life. Outbreak tells a story of Agenda 21, the journey begins with the plot of mass genocide by the corporate elite. Moves into the outbreak of the virus and the chaos that ensues. Then flows into the awakening of the masses, the discovery that the corporate elite are orchestrating the entire thing. Here is the story:
